[ENG] The final set came courtesy of Gridshape, the duo of Franz Rosati on laptop and Francesco Saguto on guitar. The signal from Saguto’s instrument was taken and manipulated in real time by Rosati, producing sounds which were then responded to by Saguto in an ongoing cycle of improvised collaboration. This set produced the evening’s greatest contrasts in volume, oscillating between full-on distorted rock-out to gentle, delicate moments; at one point the noise subsided to reveal the quiet splish-splash of digital raindrops hitting concrete, my favourite single sound of the evening.

"This experiment in electro-acoustic composition traverses through track titles starting with “In a Pre-Liminal State” to “Progression Through Reposition” and finally “In a Post-Liminal State”, where the listener is faced with ambiguity and disorientation occurring during this sonic ritual. The listener is finally transfixed during the transitional state of aural decay – where buildups of noise highlight the silence, only to reveal that it was always there, even during most clamorous moments."

Echoes of Debussy

It’s clear that modern musicians do not limit themselves to just one genre. Listening to “Cascade” by Francesco Saguto we can recognize echoes of Debussy, Satie, Minimalist music. Even the Brian Eno's ambient music.
